Monday - Battle Number 3
The Originals Versus the Covers 20 20 Retro Countdown is back... For the 3rd time, we're taking some of the great originals and putting them up against the best known covers - and the version that charted highest here in Australia - makes the countdown! Round 3 features the first time we've had to do a count back to decide the winner! So who makes the countdown - Lipps Inc or Psuedo Echo... catch the Originals versus the Covers "3" countdown to find out!
Tuesday - A Titanic countdown from 1985!
Join us as we head back to the week when the wreck of the Titanic was discovered. We'll hear reports from the researchers amongst the top 20 hits from late August. Along the way, we'll hear a couple of songs from movie soundtracks - including the number 1 - and there's the Phil Collins hit that he admits - he doesn't truly know what the song is about. All part of our trip back to this week in 1985!
Wednesday - Commitmented to 1991!
The Commitments were at the Cinema, Oprah arrived on Australian TV's and Dire Straits launched a tour that featured 20 shows here in OZ! We'll hear about those features of late August 1991 when we roll out the top 20... and at number 1 the song that held the top spot in Australia for an incredible 10 weeks.
Thursday - Remember this one from 1980?
Yes, Barnaby Jones starring Buddy Ebsen finished in late August 1980 - and it was a big week too for Alan Jones.. the formula one driver made his mark on the world! And making it's mark on the charts was a song that was used in channel 7's coverage of the Moscow games... All that and more during our trip back to this week in 1980.
Friday - it's the September Birthdays!
We get into September with a collection of artists and other celebrities who have a birthday coming up over the next month... There's some big ones to celebrate too... Marvin Aday, one of Australia's all time favourite female artists and the man they call the Boss... just don't say it while he's around... and not on the September Birthdays 20 20 retro Countdown!
